I suspect that soil compactor machine has been very busy.

What’s the tarp for? It’s blocking my view. I’m bummed. I wanted to see the box girders. Oh well.
That’s a nice new retaining wall!
Reflections of the big blue tarp, and a barrier going into the water with stuff sitting on top.

THIS is new. It’s near the south end of the bridge, on the downstream side.

Bits and pieces

Another week has gone by. The base layer of asphalt has gone in, and some good curbing has been installed.
Looks like the weight limit hasn’t changed.
All the concrete appears to be done. No railings have been installed, though.
Hey... We’ve got an official date!
Woohoo. And pilot holes for the guard rail, and places for the railings to go.
Definitely ready for the railings.
So that is where saw horses come from.
Closeup of the downstream-south railing mount point. What’s with the bubbles on the surface of the concrete?
Ooooo, beams! And no piers!! So much better.
That looks much better. I don’t think I’ll want to stand here when it’s raining.

The following Saturday, the bridge has been completed. I actually noticed completion the day before, when I went over it. Not all the detour signs have been removed yet, but enough of them are gone that there’s a light but steady flow of traffic already.
We’ve got the top layer of asphalt and painted lines and handrails and guardrails and the Bachelor Brook sign is back.
But the weight limit hasn’t changed. I don’t know if it’s going to. Could probably use a fresh sign at least. Looks like someone shot a hole in this one.
This looks very different from the previous Sunday! The railing attachment point has been coated with something. It’s not bare concrete now. The saw horses have migrated south for the winter.
The pilot holes are now occupied. I think things look better with whatever is coating the concrete too.
The view has definitely changed.
